Localo, LocalRank and Speak Local all promise to help local businesses with AI search, but they do three different jobs. Localo is a Google Business Profile tool that uses AI to write posts and suggest review replies. LocalRank is an agency toolkit that bundles rank tracking, citation submission and AI-written content, and it has started tracking AI recommendations. Speak Local audits why AI answers leave you out, then tracks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini name you. We make Speak Local, so everything here about the other two comes from their own websites, read on October 5, 2026, and we've tried to be as plain about our gaps as theirs.
Using AI and tracking AI are different jobs
Most local SEO tools now use AI somewhere: to draft a Google post, suggest a review reply or write a description. That can save time, but it doesn't tell you whether ChatGPT names your business when a customer asks who to call. Finding that out means asking assistants your customers' questions repeatedly and recording who they name. When you compare tools, check which of the two each one does.
The three tools at a glance
| Tool | Built around | AI answers it tracks | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| Localo | Business Profile automation: AI-written posts, suggested review replies, a weekly ranking grid, and citations you add yourself | None that we found on its site | $39 a month for one profile |
| LocalRank | An agency toolkit: rank tracking, automatic submission to 550+ directories, AI-written content and lead lists | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, in a new monitor whose plans and limits aren't published | $57 a month for one location |
| Speak Local | A site audit, a fix list and AI answer tracking | ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, asked directly; AI Overviews from your tracked Google searches | $49 a month for one website |
Localo: best for automating your Business Profile
Localo is built around the Google Business Profile. AI drafts posts and offers in a "brand voice" it builds from your profile, website and social accounts, and you schedule them on a calendar that publishes to Google and Facebook. Reviews land in one dashboard with AI-suggested replies, which a person approves before Localo posts them. Localo says that's deliberate, because Google discourages fully automatic replies. Its Position Map checks your rankings for up to 10 keywords per profile from a grid of 9 to 49 points, refreshed weekly or on demand. Citations come as a to-do list of directories chosen for your business and its competitors, which you add yourself while Localo tracks whether each listing is indexed. White-label reports and branded client logins are on every plan.
Single Business is $39 a month for one profile, or $32.42 a month billed annually. Pro plans for agencies run from $69 a month for 10 profiles to $399 for 120. There's a 14-day free trial, and no card is needed to start it.
Where it falls short for this job: we found nothing on Localo's site that checks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews name your business. Its AI drafts posts and suggests replies but doesn't measure the answers.
LocalRank: best for agencies that want one toolkit to resell
LocalRank is built for local SEO agencies. Its rank tracker scans different areas of a city daily, weekly or on demand, with unlimited keywords, and shows map results separately from organic ones. Citations go out automatically to 550+ directories, including Yelp, Apple Maps and Bing Places. Its Business Profile tools cover post scheduling and template review replies across many locations, agency plans add lead lists of business contacts, and ranking reports are white-labeled and scheduled.
Of these two, it's the one that tracks AI answers. A new AI Recommendation Monitor follows how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity recommend a business, and which searches trigger a mention. It's announced on the homepage but isn't listed on any plan, so which plans include it, and how many questions it checks, aren't published.
Starter is $57 a month for one location, or $47.50 billed annually, with 10,000 rank-tracker credits. Pro is $297 a month for 10 locations, Scale $497 for unlimited locations, and Enterprise $2,997. There's a free trial, but its length isn't stated.
Where it falls short for this job: the AI monitor's coverage and limits aren't published, so check them during the trial.
LocalRank also sells services meant to build visibility directly. Its LLM Citations, on Pro and up, have GPT-4o write "best of" articles that feature your business and publish them across LocalRank's network of 550+ sites. An add-on called Direction Boost has real drivers request directions to your business. Those are a different kind of tool from tracking, and if you're considering them, Google's spam policies are worth reading first.
Speak Local: best for finding out why AI leaves you out
Speak Local starts from your website. Its scan checks what GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Googlebot get back from your site, scores up to 32 checks across Local, SEO, AEO and GEO, and ranks the fixes by how many points each one gives back. Then it asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini the questions your customers ask, on a weekly or monthly schedule, and keeps every answer word for word, so you can see who was named instead of you and which sites the answer cited. Keyword positions are checked daily, including whether Google showed an AI Overview and whether it cited you. A map rank grid and Google reviews are on every plan, and white-label is on the Agency plan.
Plans are $49 a month for one website, $99 for up to 10 and $249 for unlimited websites with white-label, billed monthly. There's no free trial, but the free scan needs no account.
Where it falls short for this job: it doesn't post to your Business Profile, write or send review replies, or submit citations, which are the jobs Localo and LocalRank are built around. It asks three assistants, not Claude. Questions run on a weekly or monthly round, not daily, and on the $49 plan the month's credits cover about five questions tracked weekly or about 21 keywords checked daily, from one shared pool. Its map grid tops out at 7×7.
How do you choose?
- You want your Business Profile posts and review replies handled: Localo. It's the least expensive of the three to start, with a free trial.
- You run an agency and want citations, rank tracking and reports to resell: LocalRank. Confirm what its AI monitor covers on the plan you'd buy.
- Assistants don't mention you and you don't know why: start with your website. Crawler access, schema and one consistent name, address and phone come before anything else, and that's what Speak Local's scan checks.
These aren't either-or choices. A business can automate its profile with one tool and audit its site with another. Whichever you pick, track the same handful of questions for several weeks before you judge the result, because AI answers vary from run to run. See how to track ChatGPT recommendations by hand or with a tool. If you're also weighing BrightLocal, Local Falcon or Semrush, we compared those too.
